Hi All!
I just wanted to share an upcoming presentation that EA is hosting to discuss using Nature-Based Solutions: Using Sediment Placement (aka Thin Layer Placement).

Upcoming Webinar:
Nature Based-Solutions:
Using Sediment Placement to Improve Resilience
When:
25 April 2023, 2:00 p.m.
Coastal marsh and intertidal habitats are unable to keep up with the pace of sea-level rise. Without intervention, this habitat will likely be lost—especially in areas where lateral migration of habitat is not possible, such as urban areas. Billions of dollars have been programmed at the federal level to support nature-based solutions, and many policy and planning level documents espouse the benefit in using sediment placement as a nature-based solution to improve coastal resilience.
This webinar will discuss the current status of obstacles and opportunities related to using sediment placement as a nature-based solution to improve the resilience of natural habitat and built infrastructure in the coastal zone. Geographies to be discussed include those areas where sediment has not historically been utilized to improve habitat. Cold regions (Great Lakes, arctic), the Mid-Atlantic, and the Southeast United States will also be explored.
Join us on Tuesday, 25 April, at 2:00 p.m. EST to learn:
· The status of most recent engineering processes related to the use of sediment as a nature-based solution (A discussion on differences in approach will explain how using sediment to make a more resilient shoreline differs from the design process associated with stabilizing a shoreline with riprap.)
· Regulatory considerations at federal and state levels
· Funding considerations including costs and benefits
